Energy Efficiency: Unleash the Potential
I went to the Royal Dutch Engineering association (KIVI) Symposium ‘Energy Efficiency: Unleash the Potential of the First Fuel of the World’ in The Hague on the 25th of September 2018. Here is my highlight from that symposium:
Erica Dioguardi, an energy consultant, presented her results of an investigation among companies about energy efficiency projects. She obtained information from 20.000 projects in Europe. The majority of the projects had a pay-back-time of less than 5 years. 700 of the proven technology projects even had a pay-back-time of less than 3 years and required an investment of less than 10 million euros per project.
The remarkable thing is however that hardly any of these projects were implemented. The question why this not happened was answered by some symposium attendees, who said that energy savings have a low priority with top management and that market growth obtains a much higher priority.
