Climate Neutral Processing Hardly Affects Final Product Cost
Climate neutral processing hardly affects final product cost
Professor Andrea Raminez of TU Delft showed by value chain analysis that the processing cost of cement increases by 70 % with carbon neutral processing, but the building cost only increases by 0.8 % for the final product. The same holds for other climate neutral processing such as steel for a final product like a car. Andrea presented this news at the NPS16 symposium, 30-31 October 2019, at TU Eindhoven.
Peter Veenstra of Shell presented all kinds of technologies under development to reach climate neutral energy products by 2050 at the same conference. A very interesting technology is high temperature steam electrolysis for hydrogen production.
NPS16 is a symposium organized by ISPT, the Institute for Sustainable Process Technology. I participated in this symposium with 300 others, mainly process engineering students.
