Mats Eklund, Professor, Environmental Technology and Management, Linköping University, gave a very informative lecture about industrial and urban symbiosis. He showed many examples of successful symbiosis projects in Sweden, where agriculture, municipalities, and industrial processes are connected by many mass and energy streams. These projects reduce global warming gas emissions significantly, while creating value for the partners. Major success factors for these cases are capacities for relations, knowledge, and mobilisation (funding). He gave this lecture as part of a masterclass, organised by the Paper and Board Institute in the Netherlands, 23 April 2021.
